The student space team at the Technical University of Munich (WARR) develops innovative high-altitude research rockets and conducts research into so-called “Type V composite pressure tanks” – ultra-light tanks without an inner liner. This technology places high demands on safety and simulation. With the help of high-precision strain gauges, the failure behavior of the full-carbon tanks is analyzed in detail and material simulation is significantly improved.
